Day 2 after the surgery. I am doing considerably better. I can sit up without too much pain and managed to stand for a while without tiring. While reading my journal back to myself, I noticed that I feature a lot of pictures and talk a lot about food and drink. Proper nutrition will play a major role in my recovery and although you would think that being able to eat and drink “ anything you want to,” Is a good thing, it is not reality or at least my reality. My former surgeon had said to eat whatever I wanted and that quickly proved to be a bad plan. According to Bunny, the Moffitt surgeon said to stay on soft or liquid diet for two weeks. I don’t remember because I was still under the effects of the anesthesia but I’ll take her word for it 🙂 anyway the challenge is that I’m not hungry and most things don’t taste very good for very long. Fortunately, Bunny is very patient and willing to experiment with foods. So far, we’ve had success with blueberry pancakes and cottage cheese with peaches. I don’t like anything sugary or salty. Cancer and thrush love sugar and dairy so that limits me too.
