Bear with me. I’m going to rant a little bit about the ridiculous nature of how medical marijuana is controlled in Florida. I’ve mentioned before that although my medical card is good for a year, Florida has decided that every 7 months, I need to go visit the doctor, the cannabis doctor that is, cough up $200 and get recertified to place orders. So why do I have an annual card ? What? Huh? Why are there two different requirements? Only reason I can think of is money.
But, we do what we have to do, so Hans and I schlep over to Sarasota for our appointment
The offices are in an executive suite that obviously is rented on a temporary basis. There are no windows, there are no pictures on the walls. The assistant took my blood pressure and my temperature… Not sure why, because even though my blood pressure was very high, it didn’t seem to matter.
I asked the doctor what the accommodations are for someone who needs to get this appointment but is immobile. “That’s a good question. I’ve never been asked that before”he replied. I think you can send your trusted caregiver in your place. “ he said without confidence. Hans, who is my trusted caregiver, quickly asked him if he came in my steed, would they take his blood pressure? This is some through the looking glass stuff.
All in all a waste of time and money. Then, it was on to a dispensary to get some meds.
The young people is the dispensaries are always very helpful. And they seem to like their job which probably entails trying all of the products.
Before I leave this subject, I want to share this handout from the Cannabis Dr office.

First if all, Is it me or does seem to be written by a stoned person? A highly functioning stoned person. So much is going on the page that it’s hard to comprehend … or am I being old and grumpy 😡?? Suffice it to say that the style is not written for my demographic!
Secondly, note the complexity of figuring out what pot will work best for me. I’d have to cross reference all that info with all with the products available. Remembering there are over 800 strains and that “ Every individual will react to these compounds uniquely.” It’s becoming apparent that it’s back to trial and error for me.
News of the Day Time ……,….
I spoke to my surgeon’s nurse at Moffitt Cancer Center. Later, She left me a voicemail informing me that she had tentatively secured me for a 10:15 am appointment on Tuesday. After only 23 minutes on hold, I’ve confirmed it.
I switched to a soft and mostly liquid diet and I’m having a lot less pain today. Of course I took some tincture and that might have helped as well. I am very mellow and definitely feeling better — less anxious.
Hans and I have the beginning of a plan. New path ahead. Let’s see where it leads.
