I am happy to report that Delilah got fracture surgery repair today, complete with metal plates and pins Bottom line is that she should be able to keep her leg. I will be picking her up tomorrow and will need to keep her very inactive for at least two weeks. I will know more tomorrow. I completed my short video about her journey and will post it with a fundraiser to help pay for the surgery which is estimated to cost between $4000 – $4500.

Meanwhile, I broke one of my rules and watched medical dramas on TV. In general, since my diagnosis, I have stayed away from the news, medical shows and anything negative whenever possible. I thought that since I am feeling so much better, I could handle watching medical dramas. Wrong! My mind kept relating hospitalization and operations to my current situation. In particular, there was a plot line with a mom of a five-year-old who was talking about how she wanted to live to see her daughter grow up. (spoiler alert —she dies) I am grateful that I have been able to experience raising my boys into fine young men and will appreciate whatever time I have with them. All the same, it made me weepy. I remember my mom, who was fighting multiple myeloma for five years, hanging on so that she could, “see how it all turns out” The thing is, nobody gets to live long enough to see how it all turns out. We get the time that we get and need to be grateful for it and live our best lives. I need to remind myself of this periodically.

Fortunately at 9:30 PM Jake and Krista called. We had a lovely visit on the phone so I am feeling much better. And, I have a new sleeping buddy. Hans is out of town for the evening and Baxter has taken up residency on his side of the bed. This is generally frowned upon by Hans, but I am more indulgent tonight😜
