Warning! Today’s post is shitty. Don’t worry, I feel fine but as part of my participation in a Moffitt Colo Care study, I had to get up close and personal with my poop. I debated whether to share this and, honestly, whether it was journal-worthy but realized that I’ve set a very low bar with my poop and fart songs. I have decided that as part of my journey and in the interest of science, I will “press” on. My rather large package from Moffitt contained 11 items, including 2 disposable water-resistant stool collection pouches with adhesive tape. Hans was kind enough to set one of the pouches up for me and then he hastily bid me goodbye and good luck!

The kit also contained 3 plastic tubes (2 with liquid and 1 without liquid), disposable nitrile gloves, a triple slide test card with applicator sticks, a tube rack, an absorbent pad to lay on a sturdy surface, an envelope for the test card and the above stool sample questionnaire. TMI? Probably, so I’ll skip the collection details. Bottom line is that I have done my civic “doody” (sorry, I can’t help myself) and will Fed Ex the “shit and Caboodle” tomorrow.

Today’s other accomplishments pale in comparison. I am working on a short video to post once the Vet has decided on Delilah’s surgery. Although I hope she can keep her back leg, I know she will adapt should she become a tri-pod. I hope the video will encourage donations to FOMCAS to help pay for the surgery.

Delilah will be available for foster to adopt after her surgery.

I’ve also started researching flights to visit my sons and their girlfriends in Salt Lake City and San Diego in late May or early June. Planning a trip takes a lot of work and coordination of places to stay, rental cars and flights. It is also hard to know just how long to stay at each destination. It’s funny how trips can either seem too short or too long and you just don’t know until the trip unfolds. In any case, we will definitely purchase refundable tickets since my future health is such an unknown. But, I’m optimistic!
