Krista and her family invited Hans and I out to dinner and then to their home for dessert.  My oldest son, Jake, has dated Krista since he was 16 years old and he is now 34, so the Reed family is our family too and vice a versa.  It was great to spend time with them and Krista’s 2 grandmothers. I was able to eat a cheeseburger and sample the delicious desserts. 

Best of all, I sat across from Krista and we talked openly about the past.  She was able to express her feelings openly and I was able to truly “hear” her.  

My takeaway advice from the evening is mend fences while you can. Encourage deep and real exchanges so you understand other people’s feelings and take responsibility for your actions. Remembering that time is precious, I am determined to leave no “I love you” unsaid.   

BTW:  Krista wore the gold heart pendant I gave her.  It felt great to see it on her.
