Today is our last day and night with Bunny.  It has been a great 2 weeks and I’ll miss her terribly.  Dinner tonight was hosted by Judith and Tom …penne pasta ala vodka.  Take that tummy!

This quote below is especially poignant today as we wait for the doctor to call back with the results of the laparoscopic surgery. We missed his phone call this morning but hopefully I won’t miss it again this afternoon.

4:32 PM. Just got off the phone with Dr Dineen from the Moffitt Center. I have cancer on both sides of my diaphragm and a flat tumor on my small intestines which would make any kind of surgery difficult. I definitely have peritoneal disease on the abdominal wall which may require resection down the road but for now it’s all about the chemo working it’s magic! We will do chemo and then hope for a stable CAT scan. As long as I don’t have the symptoms of throwing up, nausea and inability to eat, we keep going forward with the chemo. When I asked him if he had seen similar cases he said he has and depending on how I respond to treatment, he would expect we could keep going for 12 to 36 months.  So basically we are back to kicking the can down the road to see what happens. Not the best news, not the worst news..just news.

Ok, I have to admit that I was downplaying our response to the news from the doctor. The truth is that Hans and I had to process it for several on a B y hours and ended up crying, holding each other and vowing to make all the time we have together count.   It is vert upsetting to think about being dead in 1-3 years but I will try to adjust to that possibility while fighting for an alternate outcome.

As of today, I am adopting the slogan, “63 is the new 83.”  Allowing that I will not live to see the age of 83, I am embracing that age now and will get senior toys to live better.   To that end, I have ordered a new lightweight travel walker in rose color and plan on getting an electric bike.    If I end up needing a wheelchair, I will get a souped up electric one.
