We are at Largo Medical Center to get a port installed for my future Chemo. The surgeon did an excellent job and I am lucky not to have any residual pain or problems with the port. My most vivid memory of the event is that the the surgeon’s nurse was amazing at keeping Hans and I entertained while we waited in the pre-op room. She is a ballroom dancer contestant and shared all her pictures with us and videos of her in the competition. The woman was 65 years old, looked 50 and had such an interesting life. I remember that it felt so surreal to be sitting there talking about her green gown and professional make up and hair while I was waiting to get a port put in to start trying to save my life. Regardless of how odd it was, it was strangely helpful.
